Your VAMP ratio is impacted by two types of disputes: non-fraud disputes (TC15s) and fraud disputes (TC40s).
Prevention alerts can help stop non-fraud disputes from becoming chargebacks — which means those cases won’t be included in your VAMP ratio.
However, fraud disputes have a corresponding TC40 report. So even if you stop the chargeback from happening, the TC40 will still impact your VAMP ratio.
VAMP is a complex topic. And policies have been updated several times since the program was announced. We recommend you check back regularly, because the impact of alerts could change as the program unfolds.

Prevention alerts can usually be live within one business day. Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) takes a bit longer, usually about two to five days.
The exact timeline depends on your internal resources, but AltoPay will try to make onboarding as fast and simple as possible.
Both Ethoca and Verifi offer similar chargeback prevention solutions, so we don’t usually favor one over the other.

If a transaction gets both a prevention alert and a chargeback, you’re entitled to a credit for the alert fee — essentially a money-back guarantee.
